Diary of a recruiter – Betty Adams

Elisabeth Adams – known to everyone as Betty, so will henceforth be referred to as such – joined Network Marketing at the start of September on a year placement from university and has quickly immersed herself in her role and within the company.

Let’s find out a little more about the person behind the platinum curls…

What are you studying?

I’m studying Business and Management at Leeds Beckett University. I think it’s a great course as it is practical as well as being academic – for example, one module we had to run an assessment centre for a company of our choice! We chose Domino’s Pizza of course… (typical students!)

How did you decide on a placement within recruitment at Network Marketing?

I researched many companies in the local area – but Network Marketing really stood out to me. I have a keen interest in Marketing and Recruitment as these are the two modules I enjoyed most at uni, so Network Marketing was a perfect combination of both. I like the fact that I can help people find their dream jobs whilst expanding my market knowledge!

What are you hoping to learn /achieve?

All the tricks of the trade! I hope by the end of my year’s placement I will learn the best ways to match the perfect candidates to the perfect jobs and how to build long lasting relationships with clients and candidates.

What have you learnt so far?

Most importantly, I’ve learnt how to build a positive rapport with candidates and how important it is to value every candidate and go the extra mile for them. I’ve learnt a lot of the technical side too – how to conduct searches for jobs and how to post jobs on many different sites!

Favourite moment?

Getting interviews for candidates is a very rewarding aspect to the job – it’s great when your hard work pays off! Another highlight has to be taking part in the office’s own Great British Bake Off!

Least favourite aspect?

It can be difficult giving feedback at times – however I have learnt to change this to constructive criticism and always put a positive spin on it!

Watch out for further updates from Betty over the coming months, as her recruitment and marketing journey continues.
