Here at Network Marketing Towers we've got an eclectic mix of interests that we indulge in at the weekend when we're not finding people the best marketing and digital jobs in Yorkshire (or the world...). To all you crafty people out there, this one should be of particular interest! Firstly I have to say, I just love crafts - any sort will do, cross stitch, card making, Xmas decorations, jewellery making actually I haven’t tried that one yet. I have so many projects half made it’s unbelievable and yes I do get a little despondent when I never actually finish anything, especially when I keep getting little jibes from my husband (I do have cross stitch I started in 1994 and still haven't finished it...). But it’s okay, I just remind him about his prized Bosch Jigsaw sitting in the garage still unused after 12 years! Anyway, I’m going slightly off track here. I just have to tell you about a brilliant sewing course I have just been on. I came across them by simply googling "sewing course in Leeds". I've had my new, shiny sewing machine that has been sitting in a cupboard for what, 15 years or more, it’s something I love and can’t part with but just don’t use. Anyway I booked myself onto this course. I had to wait a while as they were a little busy but had a fantastic time and even managed to finish a bag! Now, I know it’s not that exciting for most so I don't expect lots of 'comments' and 'likes' on this blog but as a total beginner I learnt so much, difference stitches, hemming and how to read a garment pattern so you can actually go home and make a garment for yourself. It was so thorough and I was so proud of my finished item that I can’t wait to go and buy myself some fabric and pattern so I can get started. Take a look at the website and book yourself on. Honestly they were fantastic and it’s not just for beginners either. They cover garments, curtains, blinds, cushions even lingerie, would you believe. Pauline is a sewing teacher and is so passionate about her subject and funny and there’s her daughter Jessica - they make a brilliant team.
The only downside is that they only hold classes once a month. So - the moral of the story is, if you've got a hobby that you know you really love but never make any time for it then get booked on to a fun course and reignite your passion for it! Jeannette Hirst
