Leeds Metropolitan University Employability Fortnight gives fresh graduates new hope as they embark on thee next stages of their lives. With statistics showing on average 9.6% of 2012’s graduates from the UK without a job or post graduate course, the need for under-graduates to prepare for the outside world has never been greater. Whilst there are signs the economy is improving, there’s been a massive squeeze on the number of opportunities for graduates with employers being ever-more choosy about who gets on the shortlist to be interviewed.
Being inundated with applications, it’s easy to see why employers find it difficult to differentiate between applicants. Which is why we were delighted to be offered the opportunity to join in with the Leeds Metropolitan University Employability and Enterprise Fortnight. Leeds Met have joined forces with some of the regions leading employers and suppliers of employment services to draw on their vast experiences of recruiting new talent in to the business. All of the events will offer valuable advice and guidance to those looking to take their first step on their career ladders, which can sometimes seem more like slippery poles! Network Marketing are offering a job seekers clinic where they’ll be explaining How to Turn a ‘No’ in to a ‘Yes’ in the employment stakes.
Jonathan Hirst comments, ‘It’s a tricky process these days for a graduate to differentiate themselves from the crowd when applying for jobs. We’re here as one of the leading recruitment businesses in the North to offer advice and guidance on CV’s, online profiles and interview techniques. We hope all of the students that attend will leave the seminar with a renewed level of enthusiasm, confidence and belief that there are opportunities out there for them’. Network Marketing have been specialist in marketing, digital and creative recruitment since 1996 and have counselled thousands of people on how to improve their prospects of getting an interview and subsequently the job. They’ll be sharing that knowledge from the perspective of a recent graduate.
