Coming from a recruitment agency, you may think we’re biased but there are loads of reasons people use recruiters when they’re looking for jobs. From gaining access to unadvertised roles to offering career and CV advice, we really do make the whole process easier. Interestingly, at least 70%, if not 80%, of jobs are not published* - luckily for you we're in the know so we can brief you on these roles. You might be actively searching right now or just dipping your toe in the ‘recruitment’ waters. Whichever, we’re pretty sure these tips will help you get the best out of your new best friend – your recruiter!
1. Time is of the essence
If a recruiter rings or messages you about a role, get back to them as soon as you can. More often than not, recruiters will already be well on their way to finding the best candidates (hopefully you!) for their clients and they want to get you in front of them as soon as possible so return that call!
2. Blow your own trumpet
In fact – we like it. When candidates talk a lot about the work they’ve done and what they can bring to our roles it usually means they’re passionate and serious about getting the job. We’re here to listen. Tell us about you and how great you are!
3. Stand out
As you can imagine, we get a LOT of applications for each role we post. Get us talking, make your CV stand out. We’ve even heard of some people sending a crate of beer with their CV attached – we aren’t opposed to that!
4. Be honest
If you’re a hot candidate, we’ll probably brief you on quite a few roles when speaking to you. We hope we get it right each time but we are only human! If you don’t like the sound of something we’re telling you about – tell us! It’s much better than getting further down the process and realising its not for you. Equally if you have already applied you must tell us – integrity is key for us.
5. Don’t over commit
Speaking to too many recruitment agencies can get confusing for both you and us. Make sure you can keep track of all the applications you've made – there’s nothing worse than having to ask ‘sorry which role was this one?’
So, if you fancy working with us to find your next role get in touch! We recruit marketing jobs in Leeds, Manchester and London so give us a call for a chat and we will see how we can help you.
